NarratorThe cell was cold. Concrete. A bulb above the door flickered every six seconds — Arjun had counted forty-eight blinks before he'd realised he could not remember his own name.
Inspector GowdaMr. Rai. We have a body, three witnesses, and a phone with your fingerprints on the trigger. So I'll ask once more. Where were you at midnight?
ArjunI was at my sister's engagement. Three hundred people saw me. There's a video.
Inspector GowdaThere was a video. It's been pulled.
MeeraDon't say another word. I'm his lawyer now. (to Arjun, low) The press is already at the gate. Whatever happened tonight, someone wanted it to look exactly like this.
NarratorOutside, in a black sedan with the engine still running, a phone rang once. The man in the back seat let it ring out, and dialled a different number.
